10/02/05 - Race for the Cure Starting and Finish Lines

Sponsors Halliburton and Ford used Parking Stripe Advertising to show their support for the Race For the Cure event today in Denver, Colorado. Instead of using the printed parking stripes in parking lots, they served as starting and finish lines that spanned across the road, row by row, in sets of two. Seen by over 63,000 runners/walkers, the stripes were a great success. The Parking Stripes received TV coverage. They also acted as landmarks that were observed, photographed, and taken as souvenirs during cleanup after the race.

Parking Stripes were installed early morning by volunteers. Row upon row of stripes were placed at the beginning and end of the race course. Hundreds of stripes were installed prior to the race.

The stripes were met with much curiosity and positive reaction by the race participants. Most looked down at the stripes and read the encouraging messages as they walked by. Many stopped to take pictures with the stripes that served as a memorable landmark. Sponsors recieved maximum exposure for participation. For example, Halliburton purchased 150 stripes and received 9,475,000 impressions from the race alone.

Success of the stripes was reinforced after the race while cleaning up. Several participants helped pull the stripes so that they could take them home as souvenirs. The stripes were something people could remember the race by.
